After earning three degrees in various arts and sciences, I founded a performing arts company called Gratuitous B Productions with two friends. Most productions involved physical theatre and dance. I managed the company and most performances, and we were fortunate to be able to work on lots of very exciting and interesting projects involving our faith and the performing arts.
While my family grows, I am taking an extended sabbatical from the company. Over this break, God is refining His call on my life and the scope of that call. You can read more about it in the What I'm Up To Now section.
I'm currently living and working in Jackson, Mississippi. I'm married to the greatest girl on the planet, and by mid-September, 2008, I'll be a new dad. You can follow me on Twitter, and you can send me an email from the Contact Form at the bottom of this page. Thanks for stopping by!
I'm currently in the early planning stages for the creation of a new movement in the church. The purpose of the movement is to remove the wall the church has built to divide itself from the world.
This wall has two major flaws: First, by dividing 'life' (including both bathwater and baby) from 'church' we are putting up an unnecessary barrier to entry for those on the other side. Second, this wall unintentionally pressures Christians to compartmentalize their lives into the part that contains God and the part that doesn't.
Our walled-up Christian subculture is one of the two easy default modes for Christians; the other is to continue to walk in the way of the world, being Christian in name only. But both of these modes neglect important scriptural mandates! We've got to do the difficult thing: We must live lives fully devoted to Christ in the world, not just in the church.
The wall is coming down. I covet your prayers and encouragement during the planning for this new effort.
